Kathy Kump, DNP, RN, MSN, MHSA, CWOCN, FNP

Dr. Kathy Kump, Vice President, HigherEd Vice Consultants, LLC has a significant background in the health services arena and in academia. She is widely recognized for her expertise and experiences in education in the clinical sector and in higher education.

Kathy’s broad background in healthcare services encompasses several innovative initiatives. She was instrumental in the implementation of inpatient and outpatient wound care programs and clinics at several hospitals in Kansas City and surrounding areas. She also assisted in developing the first successful American Diabetes Association accreditation of an outpatient diabetes education department at a Kansas City hospital. In her role as hospital nurse educator, Kathy started the inaugural nurse residency program. She has also served as an Associate Vice President of Clinical Operations for a nationwide home health organization focused on providing quality advanced wound quality advanced wound care to home-based patients, and as the Director of Clinical Education for a national wound care management corporation. Kathy has served two terms on the board of directors of the international Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing [WOCN] Certification Board.

In higher education, Kathy has broad experience in program development, accreditation, and regulatory affairs. She was the inaugural Director of Nursing at Ottawa University with campus locations in Kansas, Arizona, and Wisconsin. She developed the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Master of Science in Nursing and oversaw their national accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Kathy also organized and led the University’s regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In the position as a Director of Nursing Regulatory Affairs for a nationwide BSN program, Kathy was accountable to six states to oversee board of nursing approval of new onsite BSN campus proposals and/or ensure compliance of existing programs with current regulations. This role required collaboration with various state boards of nursing stakeholders, writing letters of intent, conducting feasibility studies, writing self-study reports, and coordinating all aspects of the board of nursing site visits.
