Dr. Mable Smith, President and CEO, HigherEd Vice Consultants, LLC has an exemplary career of over 30 years in higher education and professional practice.
Mable’s extensive background in academia include several executive leadership and academic positions such as Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assistant Vice President for Health Care Programs, Dean of the College of Nursing & Public Health, Dean of Nursing, tenured faculty, and Professor. As an internationally recognized and respected leader and administrator, Mable has continued to champion excellence in healthcare education through new program start-ups; program review and revision; curricula development and evaluation; adherence to accreditation standards (programmatic, institutional, regional); compliance with regulatory requirements; faculty and leader development; policy development; strategic planning; and interprofessional collaboration. She has a solid foundation for best practices in multi-campus management and operations.
Mable is an advocate for best practices in higher education. She has published and presented in numerous arenas on topics pertinent to nursing and healthcare education. Her publications have appeared in leading refereed journals, and she authored the book The Legal, Ethical and Professional Dimension of Nursing Education; and is a co-authored of Fundamentals of Nursing: Theory, Concepts, and Application; and Basic Nursing: Thinking, Doing, and Caring.
Mable is the recipient of numerous awards and honors to include Women of Distinction in Education, Healthcare Headliner, Women2Watch, and Robert Woods Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow. She has served on the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association’s strategic planning committee, the advisory board of Air Force Reserve Command, and as Individual Mobilization Augmentee for the Surgeon General Chair at Air University. Mable is a member of the National Black Nurses Association, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, American Nurses Association, National League for Nurses, and the American Association of Nurse Attorneys.
Mable earned a BSN from Florida State University (FSU) and an MN from Emory University, a PhD in Higher Education Administration, and Juris Doctor from FSU. She has completed leadership programs at the Kennedy School Executive Education, Harvard University. Mable has served on the faculties of Florida A&M University, Old Dominion University, the University of South Mississippi, Roseman University, and Air University.
